These are cheap bedbug killers.
-silica gel cat litter (you must grind and powder it yourself)
-aquarium diatom filter powder
-cement
-silica gel beads (in those little packages that say "throw away, don't eat" you must crush it yourself)
All the above contain silicon dioxide that sticks to the bedbug and dehydrates it.

These are common items that a lot of people already have around the house. They can also be mixed with insecticides to provide better killing power. (especially propoxur because it can kill for up to a month, pyrethrins break down in a couple of days.)
ReplyDeleteSome silica gel beads in the little packages that say "Throw Away, Don't Eat" may contain poison so don't put the powder you grind from it on your mattress.
ReplyDeleteSilica gel in and of itself is non-toxic (how else could they use it for the cats)
Hey Jack,
ReplyDeleteI got here through your youtube video. First off I want to say.. thank you, thank you, thank you for this information. I have spent the last 2 nights about 1 bad joke away from insanity. The first night I figured it out. The 2nd night I covered my mattress with the plastic bed bug ticking from wal-mart that envelops your mattress that they supposedly can't get through. Also I powdered the entire carpet (they're just in my room about 15x15), let it sit for an hour and vacuumed it all up. And washed all my sheets, pillows and cases and blankets. And dried the crap out of them.
But around 4am started getting bit again. Madness. Ok so my question is... I've read all the stuff you've written about the silicon cat litter and grinding it and all the other substances that will kill them. I was hoping you could tell me what the best way for me to approach this issue would be. I know what you wrote I'm just not sure if the grocery store has that kind of litter. I live in charlotte north carolina. Anyway I'm going tomorrow to look for all the stuff you recommended I was just hoping maybe you could point me in the right direction, like should I definitely go for the litter, or should I go for the cement or go to a pet store for the diatom filter powder?
Anyway I cannot thank you enough and I normally wouldn't ask a question like this when you have all this information up there already but I think you know how miserably it is to have bed bugs. I haven't slept in 2 days and I have minor freak outs at the slightest touch or agitation. I had come to the conclusion that I was gonna have to torch my mattress and call an extermantor before I saw ur vid and read your post. I can tell you know what you're talking about so I'm definitely taking up your advice.
I just wanted to know maybe which method in your experience, will probably work the best for me, and where's the most likely place I could buy it.
Again thank you for posting this information. I believe you have felt the pain of bed bugs and want to help others and you will literally probably get into heaven just for this one thing. That's how crucially miserable bed bugs are.
